Great investment

This book is great, it is very detailed and the MRI images are extremely helpful. It is a great way to review your anatomy especially when it comes to MRI images. They did a great job with the dissections, it helped me a lot in school to have this reference for all of the tendons and ligaments in the equine limb. Having been done with anatomy for a while now, I find this book most helpful for the MRI images. I also use it for a review for surgery because the images are so great. I had this on my wish list for a long time and now that I own it I have no complaints about this book.

This is a beautiful text - a real work of art. I've been using it for a course on equine locomotor anatomy and it has been an invaluable resource. The price is steep, but I think I will get a lot of continued use out of this text as my veterinary studies advance.

Condon's Glory

Prophetic and insightful, Condon knew the name of the games. Never has there been such a history of the Catholic Church as The Venerable Bead. The Manchurian Candidate was a precursor of the assassination of JFK and The Whisper of the Axe detailed 9/11 - in 1976. Prizzi's Glory, though, imho, is RC's masterpiece. I won't ruin it for you. Just do yourself the biggest favour imaginable and read it.
I can only imagine that the other reviewer here has other views on Ronald Reagan than Mr Condon had.

Pretty good, but puzzling

I got this after reading Prizzi's Honor, then Prizzi's Family, both of which I loved, altho in each of his books after Prizzi's Honor, for some reason when referring to Charlie's former love interests, he puts them in an entirely different scenario, when the original one would have worked just fine in the current reference as far as the story goes. Puzzling, since he is the one who created the characters and their endings in regard to the part they each played in Charlie's past. Even the reason Maerose was banished from the family after her actions at the so-called family party, which was actually portrayed as her wanting to spare Charlie having to marry her, so she faked being drunk and obnoxious and left with a fellow to Mexico. Why not refer back to that very clever scene instead of something entirely different??? But except for a few boring chapters trying to detail the American political system and how it all works behind the scenes, the book was good, just not as good as Honor and Family.

About the Author
David B Grant, PhD is Professor in Logistics and Deputy Academic Director at the University of Hull Logistics Institute, Kingston upon Hull, UK. He has previously lectured at Calgary, Lethbridge, Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt Universities. Professor Grant holds BComm and MBA degrees from the University of Calgary and MSc by Research (with Distinction) and PhD degrees from the University of Edinburgh. His doctoral thesis investigated customer service, satisfaction and service quality in food processing logistics and was awarded the James Cooper Memorial Cup PhD Award by the UK Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Professor Grant's logistics and supply chain management research interests focus on customer service and satisfaction, service quality, relationships, the integration of logistics and marketing, services marketing, research methodologies and techniques, and SME logistics. He has published over 70 papers in refereed academic journals, conference proceedings and books and his business experience includes corporate banking, retailing, and financial and marketing consulting. Professor Grant is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the UK Logistics Research Network, and the Nordic logistics research group NOFOMA. He is also a member of the UK Higher Education Academy and holds a Professional Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Edinburgh. James R Stock teaches at the University of Southern Florida. Douglas M Lambert teaches at Ohio State University. Lisa M Ellram teaches at Arizona State University.

Amazing introduction and professional treatment of the Supply Chain for Senior Executives

As an executive, I was always weary of dealing with Logistics and was at the mercy of idiots who professed to know about supply chain management. Having read this thorough textbook on logistics, which was very easy to read by the way, the lights turned on!! Its a comprehensive analysis of ALL aspects of the supply chain communicated in easy to understand yet profound simplicity. I GET logistics now. Cannot be duped by warehouse cowboys after reading this text.

An exciting first book from a first time Domestic Discipline author!

This was in many ways different then other domestic discipline stories in that it had a more regency romance feel to it with spankings thrown in but was very satisfying all around . Amelia starting her first season has unknowingly won the heart already of family friend Lord Morgan Barrington. Barrington is determined to make her his bride but also wants her to experience a season so she can see the world a bit and make an informed choice on who she marries. He has also made it clear he is going to protect her as she experiences life and if that includes putting her over his knee he is more than happy to do so.

These two were just interesting characters to read about, Barrington's is intense in his single minded goal to win her but you also see how much he cares for her and wants to protect her even if he also does enjoy punishing her. Amelia's growing feelings are a joy to read and her reaction to her punishments are interesting in that she protests little to it and has a reaction building to how she is perceiving the punishment in her mind. That said she is no pushover being able to banter beautiful with Barrington and making her opinion known even if she accepts his control.

There is a stilted way several of the conversations are held which is not an insult, it is done on purpose to help create the mood of those stuck in a time when being able to express oneself was clearly was not allowed. It works perfectly as a contrast so when we do get these two to talk alone or simply thinking about each other we can see the intensity of attraction that is building between them. The flow of the story was also very good taking just enough time between punishment sessions and watching them build a relationship together so that it was satisfying on every level . Just as a note for those curious this this just has spankings with only hints of possibilities of more intense acts in the future . A great first read and looking forward to the next book by this author!

THE EDGE OF A VERY DEEP FOREST OF PASSION

A sweet story of two people, Amelia and Barrington, who grew up together as neighboring children, and become better acquainted at Amelia's first season in London. From childhood, Barrington, 9 years her senior, has taken Amelia in hand when he deemed it necessary. As she is presented to the ton, he self appoints himself as protector over Amelia and his sister Caroline. The story is charming as these two develop romantic feelings for one another. The dialog is witty, but at times redundant. The cast of characters are well developed. The story has multiple spankings as Barrington corrects Amelia for numerous infractions, and no sex. This is to be a series, so more books to follow.

This reads like a Barbara Cartland, who was one of my favorite authors in my younger years. A 5 star book to me is one that I can't put down, that also clicks. This didn't quite do that. It took 2 days to read and I don't know what it is that kept it from clicking into the zone. I did however enjoy it.

raves from a lowbrow newbie

I do not come from the lowbrow culture ,whatever that is, and have never paid it any heed. But I came across this book and my eyes have been opened. This art is NOT what I had assumed - it's clever, thoughtful, insightful, and challenging. It has an in-your-face attitude which I think held me at bay for a while. But through this book I have learned to relax, to appreciate and to enjoy. Many thanks and much admiration to Kirsten Anderson for assembling this, and for including three short but effective essays by three painters who helped me discover a whole new world lying right before my eyes.

Great Book

Can't say enough terrific things about this, it's one of the best selections of modern art available. Yeah. I said modern art and not "outsider" art. Sorry kids, but that new crap we see in Artforum and in the big museums is the hellspawn of marketing, grant maggotry, the corporate world, and the new corporate academia. It has little to do with the natural evolution of Western Art. If it tickles you to think you're being a Bad-Boy/Girl/Whatever by liking this "outsider" stuff then you're falling right into their game plan, you're a niche market and they'll try to eat up this world just like they ate up "alternative music" in one big gulp. This art is the art of true Americans and that other yuck--the so-called mainsteam (which includes the pre-fab avant-garde nowadays no matter how middle-class titilating and naughty it be) is the Devils' work--the real Devil, the one that created Wal-Mart and George W. Bush.

Love this art, demand that your museums purchase it, rejoice in the fact that you'll never see some Ryden or Williams hanging in a corporate headquarters, sing Hosannas that some trendy art monkey with a Smith degree won't be writing pompous reviews using terms like "globalization" and "gender" about this stuff, wrap yourself in the red, white, and blue, and sing the Star Spangeled Banner! I just wish we could find some equivalent modern creative types with this kind of vitality in music and architecture.

(Recommended--read Paul Johnson's recent history of art, especially the bit where he talks about how the modern art world went all to hell because someone figured out how to market the bejesus out of it)

A great introductory book

What is 'lowbrow' art? This book attempts to assemble a collection of art from an ever growing movement of artists going against assumptions of conventional art. But don't you think this is a boring book of essays. Only the first few pages are text, the rest is pure visual feast, as it should be.

Shock-full of colorful art sometimes cartoonesque and always thought-provoking, this book is destined to become known as the first collection of artist works in the vein of Mark Ryden, Marion Peck or Liz McGrath.

Also, if you like this kind of art, don't miss out on the magazine Juxtapoz. If by now you haven't been properly exposed to 'lowbrow' art or 'surrealist pop' or even 'rebel art' as we're still struggling to name it, check out this beautiful book. You won't be disappointed.

We only wish the book was thicker.

Really wonderful and charming

This was so good. It was funny, sweet, deep-cutting and overall just way better than I had any right to expect. I was upset by how soon I finished it because I just really wish there was more!!! But as much as I could wish for a longer series, I feel like it might risk sacrificing a lot of the stuff that made me love this book. So I'm really happy it's the way it is, and I know I'll keep revisiting and thinking about these characters in my head for a while hopefully :)

Also just as an aside the art was totally beautiful and the way some really intense scenes were conveyed (like transformation sequences and big plot scenes) was really terrific and I got a great sense for how the characters acted and moved and how that related to who they were.

One of the first graphic novels I've read (except for Disney comic books) and I loved it!

The story is great, with a nice pace and plenty of action, humour, adventure, twists and turns. Nimona, Ballister Blackwell and sir Ambrosius Goldenloin (best name ever!) are well-developed characters with real depth and flaws. I feel like I really got to know them.

I could say a lot more, but you should just go read it. It's good. It's different.
