Electrician's Troubleshooting... Good But,

I found the book usefull and full of good infromation. But... the book is not consistant in adressing the skill level of the reader. One moment it goes into great detail for the layman's comprehension. The next moment the book may give short diagnostic instructions, that only someone with a greater knowledge & skill level would undersand. Since the book is the size of a typical paperback, less than an inch thick, space limits it's content. The book would be better if it was more consistant with it's depth of explinations. And/or a terminology and skill glossary

The asm study manual was awesome!! It covers every topic on exam fm/2 in great detail and it helped me pass the fm exam on my first try!! The practice tests that are only included in this 11th edition were very helpful and definitely worth the price!

This is a really great study manual! It explains all the principles very clearly, provides plenty of examples, and also LOTS of practice questions that very closely resemble the questions on the actual exam. With this manual as my mentor, I passed the FM exam (with flying colors) on my first attempt.

Putting the Pareto rule to practice

Greg McKeown's "Essentialism" - this is in line with the Pareto principle that was well articulated by Richard Koch in the 80/20 Principle and 80/20 Manager. This was my takeaway from the book and hope to implement them:

*Less but better
Explore & Evaluate - Discerning the trivial many from the vital few
Eliminate - Cutting out the trivial many
Execute - Removing obstacles & making execution effortless
*Trade-off - Which problem do I want?
*Play - to become creative
*The power of a graceful "No"
*WIN - What Is Important Now - Focus
*Live with Intent - Establish very clear essential intent

With a subtitle like The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, the author knows that most of us readers are going to be challenged when reading this book. Are you a person that frequently multi-tasks? Do you have a problem focusing on the true goal, instead finding yourself saying "yes" to projects you shouldn't? In this Instaread summary (think DETAILED review) the reader is given a good overview of what the original book Essentialism by Greg McKeown is about and clues on how to become an Essentialist. There are 12 Key Takeaways i.e. points in this summary which is more than normal for an Instaread summary. Each one is discussed in greater depth over approximately 2 pages. Guided by her personal motto, "D-3: Determination, Dedication, and Desire," Dawes won three Olympic medals and multiple national and world championships. She was the first African American national gymnastics champion and the first black woman of any nationality to win Olympic gold in gymnastics, as a member of the 1996 "Magnificent Seven." During her 18 years of training and competition, she displayed remarkable talent, resilience after mistakes and injuries, and a relentless commitment to perfection. When her gymnastics career ended at age 23, she had to decide what to do with her life. She has found her niche in sports media and as a spokesperson for the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition; Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" initiative; and recreational opportunities for youth with disabilities. Through personal interviews, periodicals, websites, and photos, Washburn focuses on the principles and religious faith that have guided Dawes's life. Surprisingly little information is provided about her family and the challenges she may have faced as an African American gymnast. Stick it, Stick it real good!
In the book Heart of a Champion (The biography of Dominque Dawes) many inspiring things happen. Dominque’s first ever gymnastics class was cancelled. (I thought that was interesting.) She was born in Maryland. The book was about how Dominque became an Olympic gymnast. That’s not only what it was about, the book included the struggles she went through to get there. It also talked about what she does now. She has made a big difference in people’s lives. Dominque is a CEO of the movement of 60 minutes a day of play.
In this book some of the main characters are Dominque herself. She is such a sweet young lady! She is a Christian that puts her life in God’s hands. Dominque speaks out loud to kids and teens all around the world. She is a motivator.
Kelly (her coach) has been a big influence to her. Coach Kelly has been her coach since she was a little tot! Dominque and her still are great friends today. Dominque actually lived with her for a little while. You will have to read the book to find out why.
This book has a great moral or lesson. It taught me to put my WHOLE life in God’s hands. She did and look where it got her. Yes, she did have hard times but, that’s life. She pushed through it and still worshiped the one and only God!
I recommend this book to people who like inspiring books. Just about anybody can read this and enjoy it. It’s more than a biography it’s a great book. Get your copy today!

An amazing athlete, a mediocre book

This review is difficult as I love Dominique Dawes and definitely consider her to be one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. She is an amazing athlete, and she deserved a better biography than this one. It's written for young readers, so the simplistic phrasing and prose is to be expected. However, there were several continuity errors and inaccuracies about the sport of gymnastics. A few examples: late in the book the author explains why Dominique chose to stay at the University of Maryland - except she never told the reader that she went there in the first place. She only mentioned that Dominique decided not to go to Stanford, but was glad she was still going to school (which was incredibly confusing). She refers to 1996 teammate Amanda Borden once and only says "Amanda said..." and never tells the reader who Amanda was or why she was important. The author also talks about the "3-up, 3-count" scoring formula of the team finals when talking about competitions in the early 1990s - that format was not in place at that time. She also mentions that currently, each year, still only 7 gymnasts make the Olympic team. It's actually 5 (and was 5 when the book was written), though it will be going to 4 at the next Olympics. I really wanted to enjoy this book, but the numerous inaccuracies and the random mentions of people and places without any context or explanation were really frustrating, and would be confusing for young readers.

I have watched Dominique in gymnastics every since 1991. This is a great book highlighting all her success in the gym and out the gym. I have always wondered how her parents thought about her gymnastics. Reading the book I found out.

Overall, does the EU act as a pace setter in regulating global finance, or is it mainly a follower? Why?

The key explanatory variable used in this research is the concept of 'regulatory capacity', applied to the EU and the US, distinguishing between 'strong' and 'weak' regulatory capacity. The influence of the EU in global financial regulation depends on the combinations of EU and US regulatory capacities. When EU regulatory capacity is weak and US regulatory capacity is strong, the US will mainly upload its domestic rules internationally and/or actively cross load them to the EU, whereas the EU will mainly download international rules. When the EU regulatory capacity is strong and US regulatory capacity is weak, the EU is able to upload its rules internationally and/or actively cross load them to third countries. When the EU and the US regulatory capacities are weak, private sector governance prevails. When the EU and US regulatory capacities are strong, both jurisdictions seek to upload and cross load their domestic rules.

Lucia Quaglia's most recent research monographs are: Governing Financial Services in the European Union (2010) and Central Banking Governance in the EU: A Comparative Analysis (2008). Together with Kenneth Dyson she published two volumes: European Economic Governance and Policies (2010). Together Dermot Hodson, she was the guest co-editor of the 2009 special issue of the Journal of Common Market Studies on 'The Global Financial Turmoil: European Perspectives and Lessons'. She has published extensively in journals such as Comparative European Politics, Governance, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Integration, Journal of European Public Policy, New Political Economy, South European Politics and Society, West European Politics etc. She is Professor of Political Science at the University of York.

The only book you'll need!

A really excellent book covering this delightful crossbreed.

Very thorough information about the temperament and the different coat textures.

It is also one of the best books that I have ever read covering all aspects of puppy/dog ownership, and raising a puppy to adulthood.

If I ever get another dog, I want a small one, but not as tiny as the toy breeds, and low shedding, so I am very interested in this crossbreed.

Reputed to be much easier to housetrain than most small breeds, and that is also very important!
