About the Author

Charles E. Baukal, Jr., Ph.D., PE, is the director of the John Zink Institute for the John Zink Company, LLC (Tulsa, Oklahoma), where he has been since 1998. He has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of industrial combustion, pollution control, and heat transfer and has authored more than 150 publications in those areas. Dr. Baukal serves as an adjunct instructor for Oral Roberts University, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Tulsa, and the University of Utah. He is the author or editor of thirteen books in the field of industrial combustion.

Sections on hypothesis testing, and design of experiments is a must for anyone working with it. Answers to exercises should be accessible on web.

I found this book to be excellent introduction to design of experimental measurements and the treatment of uncertainties in those measurements. The only drawback is that the author limits the discussion of uncertainties to data with a Gaussian distribution of errors. In many experiments the Poisson distribution is more applicable and it should be discussed in combination with the Gaussian distribution (i.e., the conditions when one is more appropriate than the other).

I rather enjoyed reading all of the ten lessons

I rather enjoyed reading all of the ten lessons. They were easy to understand – and more importantly – digest. This book is about thirty pages on my kindle, so it’s not the biggest, but I think it’s definitely worth it, because there is no junk to be read, only great lessons that you can use right away. Confucius was definitely a great leader of his time, and we can all learn from him.

A Fascinating History and Wonderful Bios and Portraits.

This book by Karen Samuels is not one you would typically buy out of the blue, but I have a Westfield High School classmate, Pat McInerny Kesling, whose bio is on page 96, so I purchased "Legendary Locals of Bethlehem" to read about Pat.

I now understand why Pat is profiled and want to thank her for her altruism in this review. She has made a difference for those so unfortunate to have suffered domestic violence in their lives. Thank you, Pat.

I began to read the biographies and their accompanying paintings and/or photographs under the title, The Heroes of Education, and they were so interesting that I continued reading each bio under the succeeding chapters until I had finished all. I feel I now have a grasp on not only the history of Bethlehem, but Pennsylvania as well, and it is a history which mirrors so well the challenges of a constantly changing world in which we adapt or lose our way.

I recommend "Legendary Locals of Bethlehem" to anyone who has an avid interest in our country's history, and specifically Pennsylvania and Bethlehem.
