A nostalgic trip to the 80s.

This captures the tone of the original way of the tiger books and I was effortless drawn into them.

For old school veterans who owned and played the original 6 books, you will be in for a treat, as Book 7 effortlessly weaves in tons of past plot points from various books. Really love how Book 7 takes into account the various permutations of decisions made in the past 6 books evoking endless nostalgia for those of us who grew up with the books and read them over and over. In some ways this is probably the most complicated of all the way of the tiger series, given the need to juggle past plot points as well as various characters you will run into while trying to escape the rift.

A possible criticism could be that the book overdos the nostalgia factor at points, and almost every major enemy you have ever encountered in the past 6 as a chance of making an appearance. Also the story perhaps runs out of steam towards the end, treading almost identical ground to Book 3.

In terms of play-ability, if you have not played past books, as far as I can tell there is only one way to get past the initial trap (and in a way that makes no sense to me, since doing it in another order fails), but I would guess no one would get book 7 without having played the earlier ones.

But in general this is an excellent book, easily worthy of the "Way of the Tiger" series.

Hope this isn't the end of the series, as a interesting character was introduced at the end, that suggests possibilities....

Stunning conclusion after a long wait

This massive offering (420 sections vs the 300 the previous books have) ties in a lot of loose ends. There are a lot of old acquaintances that show up in one way or another and try to settle things with the Avenger. It takes a lot of luck as well as skill to face your past.

The adventure drops you in the middle of the action and the sense of urgency fueled by adrenaline does not give you a respite until well into 2/3 into the story.

Insightful and a Game-Changer

Every now and then, a book comes along which delivers a simple yet important message in an oh-so-effective manner. This is one of those books. A must read for every hard-working woman out there. As a female and a professional, stress has been a constant in my life. In fact, its absence would come as more of a surprise than its presence -- despite various haphazard measures I've taken to counter stress. This books turns the subject on its head by giving women the tools they need to identify the type of stress in their lives -- aka your stress profile -- and by presenting them with affirmative steps to take to manage that stress. Almost all women like a game-plan. We like to be in charge of our lives. Finally, this book gives us a guide to doing so.

OMG how timely is this?

This book is a real life saver. I haven't finished it yet, but what I have read is a much needed reference to my crazy life. Although I recoginize as an individual person, recommendations in a book are of a general nature, I have choosen from the general recommendations for my type that most suit me and already feel more controlled and vital although the pressures and chaos of my life have not changed. I am excited to see what 6 months or a years time of these small changes will yield. Thank you Dr. McClellan and Dr. Hamilton from the bottom of my heart.

Incredible, an eye opener

This book is a must have for all women. Dr. McClellan and Dr. Hamilton have taken science, their extensive experience in private practice and research and have woven an incredible masterpiece focusing on nutrition, exercise, identifying the four stress types and a simple yet effective way to combat stress that bombards us in our role as mother, daughter, wife, career woman. This book speaks to all women. Read it and learn how to develop a stres free state.

Cahpter 8 on "The Future Decline of the Russian Empire" predicted many events that took place AFTER 1986. Chapter 2 on "Weber's Last Theory of Capitalism" examines the overall theory of "modern capitalism" and thereby clarifies the importance of not just relying on the essays collected in English as "The Protestant Ethic and the 'Spirit' of ]Modern] Capitalism." Those essays from 1904, 1905 and 1906 are not the final result of Weber's work on capitalism. To some extent they can be considered very stimulating "sketches." Of course, Weber died in 1920, too early to fully predict everything that happened in subsequent years. But if we read Chapter 3 carefully then we have a grasp of what is crucial to modern capitalism as a new form of political, economic and societal structure after the High Middle Ages. The comparison with Buddhist China is very informative. Chapter 9 also returns to the importance of studying religious institutions. Chapter 10 provides a very succinct discussion of the Hegelian background to Marxist and Marxian theory. The sociology of markets is somewhat different from the study of exploitation and what Marx called "surplus value." A review for amazon is not the place to launch into a detailed discussion of every detail. No doubt some readers may not agree with everything that Collins writes. But any relatively well educated reader will find this a very stimulating book and well worth the price. I believe, for example, that the discussion of "The universal church and the imperial state" (pp. 215-221) provides a heuristic clue to the sociological meaning of theological dogma and heresy. Some political Marxists may not like Weber's interpretive, comparative historical sociology. But to even begin to criticize Weber it is necessary to read Collins' brilliant exposition of the implications of his thought. Collins is sometimes labelled a "conflict theorist" and many would argue Weber was not a conflict theorist, but in some ways Professor Collins is a Neo-Weberian thinker who discards some aspects of Weber's thinking and takes up the value of other Weberian ideas by comparing Weber's specific arguments with new subjects that are not specifically addressed in Weber's oeuvre. Of course, Collins himself has written a great deal since 1986. Anyone who reads this book may want to follow up with other work by Collins, some of which is not specifically Weberian or Neo-Weberian. HIs book The Sociology of Philosophies (Belknap) is a magnum opus that goes far further than Weber was able to do because of the wealth of scholarship on Sinitic, Indic and Greek civilizations that has appeared since the 1910s. Modern capitalism is not the only subject discussed in this book, but anyone who is interested in knowing about current trends in the global capitalist political economic system will benefit from having these stimulating chapters as background. Historians like to make derogatory comments about Weber, usually just in a footnote. But often academic historians do not really read Weber's oeuvre and have no clear idea of the heuristic value of Weber's ideal type analysis. Read this book.

I have heard Bro. Wright speak numerous times, so was happy to find he had written a book on the same subject. This book is very inspiring, I kept a pencil handy to underline & write notes in my book. It is marked up quite a bit, because of all the great quotes, ideas, etc. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Factual, not inspirational

I was disappointed that I couldn't see some sample pages, so I bought this on faith. It's a fine book for instruction, but is not a very wonderful story. I will use it, but the kids won't ever ask to borrow that book.

GREAT TEACHING BOOK!

I did a lesson on letter writing and used this book as a read aloud. The children really enjoyed the book. I felt as if it were a perfect choice for a read aloud for the lesson. If you are looking for a way to teach letter writing to children, this is a great book! I really enjoyed reading it : )

About the Author
James C. Taylor, PMP, has nearly 40 years of highly diversified experience in project and program management, marketing, and business development in both the public and private sectors. His principal experience is in the information technology and engineering training industries including the design and development of flight simulator equipment and computer based flight-training courses for the U.S. Military. Mr. Taylor has taught graduate courses in project management, leadership, and negotiation skills and strategies at Marymount University in Virginia and project management at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. He has designed, developed, and taught numerous core and IT project management courses as well as contracting courses for project managers. He also was previously the Senior Advisor at ESI International, the world s largest provider of project management training and actively managed the development and update of all of ESI s project management courses. Jim has been an active speaker over the years and he has authored numerous articles and books in the field of project management.

Mr. Taylor has a BS in Mathematics and a BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering all from Auburn University and a MS in Organizational Development from Marymount University. He is a consultant in project management and project management training. Mr. Taylor lives in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Don't waste your time and money

I used this book for a graduate-level course in Project Cost Management. My co-instructor had used a variety of books but not Taylor, so we gave it a try. Never again will I teach from this book. I'd actually written a very lengthy and extensive review of this book after I read it and had started to post it here, but then I thought that I might want to hold off because we were just about to teach a class with it. The waiting period is over. This coming semester we're used a very similar book by Ursula Kuehn; I might review that if I have strong feelings about it.

To be very brief about why this is a poor choice:
1. The book is totally out of order. The editor (if there even was one) should be fired for not completely reordering this book from how it's laid out. Later chapters introduce concepts that are applied in earlier chapters, without reference back to the later chapter. The author could have used some project scheduling, namely a precedence diagram, of his own.
2. The cost discussion (and really, most of the book) is remedial. If you've ever studied project management or even managed a project without any formal training, this book will be well below you. If you're a PMP, don't even bother with it. Beyond that, the problem is that it's such an incomplete coverage that a new PM will be left with very disjointed information. If you're looking for an entry-level book on project management, check out "PM Crash Course" by Rita Mulcahy. It has its own flaws, but it is a much, much better book in every way.
3. The book tries to touch on Project Risk Management, an specialty of mine. The treatment is so superficial that the book would have been better off without it.

Bottom line: not worth reading, definitely not worth buying

More Basic that what it leads you to believe

Books like this are why I hate buying books online. While it is a great book for beginning scheduling that is all it is. If you are looking for something more substantial than "Construction Planning and Scheduling" by Jimmie Hinze is much better (If your scheduling for Construction Projects that is.)
If you have never read a book on planning then this could be a great place to start. The only problem is with most large scale construction projects unless you have a dedicated scheduling staff you will not have the luxury of cost loading schedules so that you can perform Earned Value Analysis.
I was thrown in to this scenario and have been very dissapointed on the amount of literature about what you do after you have the schedule created and what the best practices are concerning schedule updates. Since it is something that can really get you and your company in trouble in the event of a lawsuit i am surprised that it is not a subject that has been covered in more detail.
So while I am not panning this book, as it is great for an introduction book, the description on the web page and even on the book itself is very misleading.

I have the PMI Practice Stanyor Project Estimating & Practice Standard for Scheduling which explain the processes in a way that is easier to understand. I kept referring to my PMI books to better understand what I was supposed to be learning.
